Blockchain: Insights & Perspectives

September 19, 2018 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm

$75.00

Blockchain has seen 2,500-plus patent filings and over US$1.4 billion in investments in just three years. At least 24 countries are investing in it, and more than 50 corporations have joined consortia around it. While Blockchain is not quite ready for primetime, it is getting closer to its breakout moment every day. The academic hypotheses of five years ago are steadily becoming a reality.

Even with this enormous momentum, Blockchain is still largely misunderstood and has challenges to overcome. In Deloitte’s 2017 Global Corporate Treasury Survey, 54% of Treasurers surveyed consider themselves still in an early education phase when it comes to Blockchain and how it could work for them. In addition, the regulatory environment around Blockchain is uncertain, standards are only just starting to be developed, formal legal frameworks do not yet exist as well as cyber-implications all present challenges that stand in the way of large-scale implementation.

So what is it about Blockchain? Why should you invest your time and energy to further understand Blockchain and its application to your world?

This session will take you on a journey to engage in these questions, enhance your understanding of Blockchain concepts in a practical way and examine why Blockchain is challenging and re-shaping many of the assumptions underlying today’s business models. Featuring insights and perspectives from Deloitte’s Treasury Risk Advisory team join us for an engaging look at how Finance and Treasury teams can leverage Blockchain to lower costs, improve process efficiencies and streamline transactions in their respective industries through exploration of Finance and Treasury-specific use-cases.
