
With an ever increasing number of young graduates pursuing a career in corporate finance and treasury, there are challenges and benefits of working with the different generations. With that objective in mind, we are planning a panel discussion. Please join us to hear and share perspectives on what new graduates look for in a work environment and how do they make their career and company choices.
There will be an unofficial pub night right after the session for some further discussions and networking.

Time: Registration begins at 4pm with the roundtable starting promptly at 4:30pm until 5:30pm, followed by a pub night in the same location

- Kyle Guild who will shortly graduate from the University of Calgary with a BComm in Finance.
René Wells
René recently graduated with a PhD in Finance from the University of Luxembourg. Before pursing his PhD, René was an executive with Scotiabank, Natwest Markets, and John Deere. René also holds an MSc from the University of Luxembourg, an MBA from the John Molson School of Business of Concordia University, and a BSc (Physics) from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. He is a CFA charter-holder and a CPA. He has lectured classes at the Rotman School of Management of the University of Toronto. René has over 20 years of banking and lending experience in North America, Europe, and Africa. His research agenda focuses on the microstructure of financial markets.
Douglas Allen
Douglas accumulated over forty years of experience, both as a chief financial officer with operating companies and in corporate finance with several international banks. His expertise encompasses: debt and equity capital markets; bank financings; project finance; structured finance; securitization; leasing; money markets; foreign exchange; treasury operations; financial reporting and compliance; and financial risk management. He has also served on a number of boards of directors of both public and private companies, where he commonly serves as chair of the audit committee. He is currently teaching international finance at Mount Royal University and doing some consulting when not fully engaged with his grandchildren. Mr. Allen has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Mathematics (First Class Honours) and an Master’s degree in Economics and Finance.
Manuela Saliba
Manuela or Manny is a trilingual (English, French, and Spanish) Talent Attraction and Sourcing Professional with 15+ years’ experience in recruitment for national and international clients in North America, the Middle East, and South America. She has supported the recruitment of talent for a wide-range of roles in accounting, finance, engineering, IT, supply chain, human resources, and other business functions. Manuela has always been interested in human behavior. She pursued this passion and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, with a Major in Industrial Psychology, from Pontificia Univerdidade Catolica University in her native Brazil. While attending university, she supported organizations in adopting recruiting best practices, and contributed to the creation of three Executive Recruitment Agencies – two of which are still thriving today. In 2011, she was invited to join Agrium – now Nutrien – as their new Sourcing Advisor. In 2014, she was tasked with creating and implement a strategic recruitment plan which has saved the organization almost $3MM in cost avoidance. Manuela uses her 11 years of leadership to support the development of employees at all levels of the organization. She believes in producing cost effective results, while giving individuals the opportunity to improve their personal and professional life.
Kyle Guild
Kyle Guild is a 4th year Bachelor of Commerce student in the Haskayne School of Business with a concentration in Finance. He is also a University of Calgary Alumni, holding a B.Sc. (Honours) in Exercise and Health Physiology. Kyle’s background lies in medical science and health care, working as a primary care paramedic and as a published medical research assistant in neurology and pediatrics. He has thoroughly enjoyed his transition to finance achieving a GPA of 3.8, participating in the inter collegiate business competition, and working part-time as a teaching assistant for the introduction to finance class. After graduation, Kyle is looking forward to gaining corporate banking experience while pursuing his CFA designation. In his free time, Kyle enjoys spending time outdoors and volunteering -sitting on the board of the Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary and acting as a heart health ambassador with the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
